Rotech Subsea has completed the second phase of trenching scope at a state-owned offshore wind farm in Taiwan.
At the beginning of the year, Rotech secured the contract for a f ollow-up phase of sand wave clearance and seabed leveling work. The second phase was set to commence in March.
The scope of work consisted of burying the remaining ten cables on site to 2m TOC. A total of 21 cables, four export and 17 array cables, were burried, the company said.
Rotech mobilised its TRS1 and TRS2 Controlled Flow Excavation (CFE) tools on a support vessel using its 400-tonne crane. The work had been conducted in water depths of between 20 and 30 metres.
“Rotech Subsea were delighted to have delivered a highly successful project in Taiwan in what was the client’s first offshore wind project outside Europe”, said director of Subsea, Stephen Cochrane .
“Indeed, so successful was Phase 1 of the project that the client requested to keep the TRS1 tool on stand-by in-country to ensure its availability, while requesting another TRS1 for an additional campaign “.
In May, Rotech Subsea completed cable de-burial and post-lay trenching works at an undisclosed offshore wind farm in the British part of the North Sea.
The company did not reveal the name of the client but did state that it is an offshore energy market solutions leader.
