In today’s spotted we bring you the Academician Pashin – the first tanker built for the Russian Navy since the end of the Soviet Union. The vessel was launched at Nevsky Shipyard on May 26.

Nevsky says Academician Pashin is the biggest vessel ever launched at this shipyard.

Its construction was carried out in accordance with the state contract for the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation. The project is developed by Spetssudoproect, JSC. The total construction costs amounted to approx. USD 85 million.

The medium-sized tanker is intended for receiving, storage, transportation and transfer of liquid cargoes – diesel fuel, bunker fuel, kerosene, engine oil, water; dry cargoes – provisions, naval and technical stores.

The 9,000 dwt vessel has a length of 130 meters and a width of 21.5 meters. It can accommodate 24 crew members and 12 passengers.

Academician Pashin was rolled out on March 18 this year and its keel-laying ceremony was held on April 26, 2014.

The vessel will be delivered later this year, once the final touches are in place.
