Wiking orders two AW139 helicopters from Leonardo

Offshore helicopter transportation company Wiking Helikopter Service has ordered two AW139 intermediate twin-engine helicopters from Leonardo.

The helicopters worth 30 million euros are expected to be delivered in 2019 and 2020. They will be used to perform offshore transport operations in Northern Europe where Wiking already operates four such helicopters.

According to the spec sheet, an AW139 helicopter can carry 2 Pilots (+1 winch operator) and 15 passengers (offshore max.12) .

Wiking, which serves offshore oil & gas and wind industries in the North Sea and the Baltic Sea, operates a fleet of AW139 and Airbus H145 helicopters.

This week’s AW139 order follows a recent delivery to Wiking Helikopter of an Airbus H145 helicopter in offshore configuration, bringing Wiking’s H145 fleet to a total of five aircraft.
