Qatari LNG heading for Japan

Qatar, the world’s largest LNG exporter, dispatched a cargo of the chilled gas from Ras Laffan port to Japan on Tuesday.

The 210,157 cbm Q-Flex carrier Umm Al Amad is expected to arrive at Chubu Electric’s Kawagoe LNG terminal on April 17, according to shipping data.

Qatar started exporting LNG in 1997. The country celebrated achieving record 77 Mtpa of LNG production capacity in December of 2010, reconfirming its position as the world’s leading producer of LNG.
