The company signed contracts for the ship pair with Chinese shipbuilder Jiangxi New Jiangzhou Shipbuilding Heavy Industry in late September 2024.

According to OM Maritime, the order marks a significant milestone for the company as it makes the transition from operating older ships to a modern fleet.

“These high performance chemical tankers will meet the highest emission standards, are fuel-efficient and have an eco-friendly design, which will enhance our operational efficiency and enable us to provide sustainable, efficient and reliable service to our clients,” Om Maritime said in a LinkedIn update.

The vessels, which feature twelve duplex stainless steel cargo tanks, are slated for delivery in the fourth quarter of 2026.

The 13,800 dwt ocean-going newbuilds will be classed by French classification society Bureau Veritas (BV). The ships will be capable of carrying a variety of cargoes including chemicals, acids, petroleum products and edible oils, the shipbuilder said in a separate statement.
