OERA launches tidal energy innnovation call

Business & Finance

The Offshore Energy Research Association of Nova Scotia (OERA) has opened a new competitive $1.25 million research call focused on tidal energy-related technology innovation.

The funding will support new projects that offer innovative and practical technology solutions and novel approaches to resolve fundamental knowledge gaps impacting the tidal sector, according to OERA.

There are three broad areas of research interest, including enhancements in environmental effects monitoring (EEM) technologies and approaches; innovative approaches and improvements to marine operations; and innovative cost reduction technologies.

OERA noted that the scope for each theme area is purposefully broad to provide opportunity for a variety of expertise from different organizations, disciplines and specializations to come together to collaborate on innovative research.

The competition was opened on May 23, and will run until June 19, 2017.
