Ibecisa Winches to Be Installed Onboard Kodiak Enterprise

Ibercisa has delivered the winches ordered by the North American Company Trident Seafood in Tacoma for installation on board the Kodiak Enterprise.

These are two electrical trawl winches of 440 kw each, with a stowage capacity of 2.000 metres of 35mm wire. The machines have a nominal pull of 57,8 tons on the first layer at a speed of 40 m/min which increases by 40% and 80% on pull and speed respectively. Both winches have electronically driven stowage.

Kodiak Enterprise is one of Trident Seafood’s three factory vessels and is an 80m trawler which operates in the Bering Sea and Aleutian islands catching Alaskan Pollock and Pacific Hake.

Respresentatives of Trident Seafood visited the Ibercisa factory in August this year; a visit which the Company’s Directors, Rick Brown and Mike Luchino qualified as very productive. During their stay they explained the Company’s bid to improve the efficiency of their fleet and minimize negative environmental impact. They pointed out that the strategy of Trident Seafoods was to change their hydraulic deck systems over to electronically driven equipment, thereby improving efficiency, fuel costs and reducing the risk of environmental damages due to oil leakages and similar.

Ibercisa’s sales strategy continues its bid to conquer international markets in sectors which are rapidly growing such as heavy tugboats, dragging vessels, civil engineering and investigation vessels. In the fishing vessel sector its principle markets are Russian, Norway, Iceland and North America, countries which are renewing their fleets and incorporating electronically driven equipment; Ibercisa has become the leading manufacturer in this field of technology.
