Geotechnical Surveys Underway at Bałtyk II and III

Business & Finance

Fugro Netherlands Marine B.V. is carrying out a geotechnical campaign at the Bałtyk II and Bałtyk III offshore wind projects in Poland.

Fugro is implementing a research program using Solstad Farstad’s vessel Normand Flower, a spokesperson from Polenergia told Offshore WIND.

The initial geotechnical campaign is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2019.

In May, Polenergia signed an agreement with Norway’s Equinor to jointly own and develop the Bałtyk II and Bałtyk III projects.

With the deal, Equinor took over 50% stakes in the special purpose companies developing the two projects and is responsible for their development, construction and operational phases.

The two 600MW wind farms will be located some 27 and 40km from the port of Łeba in water depths of 20-40 meters.

Bałtyk III is expected to deliver first power in 2025, with Bałtyk II following in 2027.

Polenergia has already signed grid connection agreements and has secured two valid environmental decisions for project construction.
