Fugro Wins More Hollandse Kust Noord Work

Business & Finance

The Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO.nl) has awarded Fugro with a contract to supply metocean data for the Hollandse Kust (Noord) offshore wind farm zone.

Fugro will be in charge of conducting field measurements at the 700MW zone in the Dutch North Sea by using two individual floating systems equipped with LiDARs to measure wind and dedicated instrumentation to measure wave and current properties.

The 12-month contract will add on the one-year metocean work already completed at Hollandse Kust (Noord) in April.

The Dutch government aims to get at least 24 months of validated data before the permit tender for the offshore wind zone closes in the fourth quarter of next year.

Back in 2017, Fugro carried out a geophysical survey of the zone to map the seabed and position of existing cables and pipelines, as well as the possible presence of obstacles. The Dutch company announced earlier this year that it is also responsible for a site characterization program at the area.

In addition to the two 350MW offshore wind sites at the Hollandse Kust (Noord) area, the Netherlands has four sites in the pipeline at Hollandse Kust (Zuid), for which a 24-month metocean contract was awarded.
