EU opens €7M ocean energy arrays call

Authorities & Government

EU’s Innovation and Networks Executive Agency (INEA) has launched a €7 million funding call for the development and demonstration of second generation design tools for wave and tidal energy arrays.

The challenge is to develop and demonstrate new advanced tools based on the first experiences of ocean energy arrays with the aim to reduce technical risks and attract investors for future innovative array designs.

These tools should facilitate a significant increase in reliability, survivability, performance improvement and cost reduction of devices and arrays, it is stated in the call launched on May 11, 2017.

The deadline for applications to the call is set for September 7, 2017.

Applicants will receive the evaluation results at the latest five months after the submission deadline, and grant agreements will be signed with the successful applicants within eight months after the submission deadline, according to INEA.

The call is part of the current Horizon 2020 ‘Secure, Clean and Efficient Energy’ Work Program.
