EMEC goes on a recruiting spree

Business & Finance

The European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) is looking to expand its team with several new job openings.

EMEC is recruiting for a Senior Electrical Test Engineer whose scope of work will be to manage the operation of EMEC’s electrical systems, and to ensure its electrical systems meet client’s requirements and standards.

Also, EMEC is on the lookout for an Engineering Technician who would support the provision of EMEC’s testing infrastructure, and be tasked with carrying out maintenance on EMEC’s onshore and offshore facilities and equipment.

Both positions are permanent and full-time, and the deadline to apply for either of the posts is set for June 26, 2017.

As part of a pioneering project looking to generate hydrogen from tidal and wind energy, EMEC has recently installed an electrolyser at its tidal test site.

To support its diversification into this new sector, EMEC is seeking a Hydrogen Development Manager to assess and implement hydrogen related business streams.

The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying opportunities for hydrogen related R&D projects as well as establishing export routes for the hydrogen produced from the electrolyser.

Closing date for applications to the position has been set for June 30, 2017.

Established in 2003, EMEC provides developers of both wave and tidal energy converters with accredited open-sea testing facilities.

It offers two full-scale grid connected test sites for wave and tidal energy devices testing, and also operates two scale test sites in the waters off Orkney in Scotland.
