Donald Trump Opens Golf Course in Scotland

Donald Trump, the U.S. tycoon, opens the first stage of his golf resort today.

The golf resort, built in two years and worth GBP 750 million ($1.16 billion), will be open when Mr. Trump plays the first round on the championship course.

As written on Bloomberg, Scottish First Minister Alex Salmond has not been invited to the opening ceremony.

Minister Salmond received protest letters from Donald Trump, regarding the proposed offshore wind farm in Aberdeen Bay, which will be visible from the golf resort. He also said that it will destroy Scottish tourism and gave evidence to the lawmakers about his opposition to wind farms in tourist areas.

Scottish plans to build an offshore wind farm overlooking the course have led to putting on hold the construction of a second Trump’s golf course, five-star hotel, 500 homes and 950 short-term rental apartments.
