Colombian FSRU project to be operational by end 2016

Three Colombian power generators developing the country’s first LNG import project have set a start up target for late 2016.

As Luis Fernandez, President of Termobarranquilla told ICIS, the consortium made up of TEBSA, Celsia and Termocandelaria, is in negotiations to create a marketing agent responsible for handling the 2.6 mtpa facility’s capacity. All three, companies will have a stake in the agent. Initial negotiations for contractual volumes have already been held.

Fernandez said it is expected for the project to come on stream together with some North American projects, but the consortium does not intend on limiting its supply points.

Promigas was chosen to supply the infrastructure for the terminal.  A charter deal with Höegh LNG has already been signed.

Although the environmental licensing processes are still being completed, the government has declared the project of national interest so the key permits are expected to be granted in the coming months.
