Clarksons Platou forms offshore renewables division

Business & Finance

UK-based provider of integrated shipping services Clarksons Platou has created a new global division that will target the offshore renewable energy market.

The newly formed division will provide ship broking, market intelligence and commercial services for the offshore renewables market, Clarksons Platou informed.

It will have specialists in London, Aberdeen, Oslo, Houston, Singapore, Shanghai and soon in Hamburg.

Clarksons Platou has also appointed David Matthews to develop the company’s offshore renewables business, which will target work within the wave and tidal sectors as well as offshore wind.

The move comes after a strategic review identified a gap in the offshore renewables market for global broking services, according to Clarksons Platou.

Frederik Colban-Andersen, Director of Clarksons Platou Offshore Renewables, said: “I am confident that his [Matthew’s] expertise will prove invaluable to our clients as we continue to act as a trusted and long-term vessel partner to many in the offshore energy industry.”

The company, active in the offshore renewable energy sector since 2013, is one of the world’s largest vessel brokers, with around 1400 staff in 49 offices located across 21 countries worldwide.
