Bibby WaveMaster 1 to Spend Winter with MHI Vestas

Operations & Maintenance

Bibby Marine Services and MHI Vestas have signed a charter agreement for the Bibby WaveMaster 1 covering the 2018/2019 winter period.

Commencing on the 23 October, the walk to work service operation vessel will supply services for MHI Vestas on the West coast of England working on several offshore wind farms, from the River Mersey in Liverpool, the vessel’s registered home.

Since the vessel christening in September 2017, this “built for purpose” SOV has worked continuously, initially on the Galloper offshore wind farm and then with Total E&P Netherlands, a project that will continue from April 2019 under a long-term framework.

Key to securing this latest opportunity has been the height adjustable Uptime gangway system that allows an extensive range of access heights to be achieved without any modifications, Bibby said.

With tidal ranges in excess of 10m on the West coast of the UK, this system will allow the vessel to work irrelevant of tide height.

Stephen Bolton, Managing Director of Bibby Marine Services, said: “Not only is this our second winter specific charter it continues our record of continuous deployment since the vessels christening back in Sept 2017. With Total E&P having secured a further year from April 2019 we are now on track for our two years’ continuous operations. This is a credit to the vessel design, her crew and the wider Bibby team including our strategic partners. Bringing this UK flagged City of Liverpool registered vessel to her home town and the River Mersey is simply the icing on the cake and we thank the team at MHI Vestas for the opportunity and placing their trust in Bibby.”
