To celebrate the milestone, Siemens Gamesa joined the Hull City Council to plant 500 trees to help create the Northern Forest.

The company opened the factory at the Alexandra Dock in December 2016 when it officially unveiled the 75m long blade.

Multi-media artist Nayan Kulkarni later transformed one of the first produced 28t blades into a sculpture and exposed it in the Queen Victoria Square in the center of Hull.

After the ten-week set up in the city center as part of a culture program, the blade was returned to the factory where it found its permanent location at the entrance.
