Gazprom Begins Feeding Gas into Bovanenkovo – Ukhta GTS

Gazprom has finished pneumatic testing and started feeding gas into the first string of the Bovanenkovo – Ukhta gas trunkline system (GTS). This process operation is preliminary to bringing the gas pipeline onstream.

“The works are progressing according to schedule. Process gas is being injected simultaneously from both directions: from the North (Bovanenkovo field) and from the South (Unified Gas Supply System in Ukhta). The gas pipeline will be operational any time soon,” said Vitaly Markelov, Deputy Chairman of the Management Committee.

The Bovanenkovo – Ukhta GTS is a gas transmission system comprised of two strings for the Yamal gas delivery into the Unified Gas Supply System of Russia.

The GTS construction was launched in December 2008, the welding and installation operations at the linear part of the first string stretching for more than 1,240 kilometers were completed in May 2012. At present, the construction of the GTS second string and eight compressor stations is underway, full-load pre-commissioning operations are going on at the Baidaratskaya compressor station.
