Qatar, the world’s largest LNG exporter, dispatched a cargo of the chilled gas from Ras Laffan port to Japan on Tuesday.

The 210,152 cbm Q-Flex carrier Fraiha is expected to arrive at the Himeji LNG terminal on April 23, according to shipping data.

Japan imported 88.51 million tonnes of LNG in 2014, a rise of 1.2 percent from 2013.

The country’s LNG imports have been rising steadily year on year, due to the devastating earthquake and tsunami in March 2011 which caused Japan to shut down its nuclear industry.
