Eni spuds exploration well offshore Libya

Italian oil firm Eni has started drilling an exploration well in the Mediterranean Sea, offshore Libya.

The company on Wednesday spudded the exploration well B1-16/3 in located in the Contract Area “D” (NC41).

According to the Libya National Oil Corporation, the exploration well will be drilled in a water depth of 156 meters and it is located about 140 kilometers north – west of Tripoli and five kilometers north of Bahr Essalam gas field.

The estimated total depth of this well is some 3000 meters. The main objective of this well is to test the Metlaoui group reservoir and the drilling is expected to be completed in 64 days from the spud date.
