Rocksource ASA to Drill in PL 506 S, North Sea

Rocksource ASA has received consent to carry out exploration drilling of well 26/5-1 with the Borgland Dolphin semi submersible drilling rig.

Well 26/5-1 will be drilled in production licence 506 S in the North Sea. Rocksource is the operator, and Petoro, Petrolia Norway and Valiant are the other licensees.

The prospect being explored is called «Storbarden».

Water depth at the site is 261 metres.

The drilling activity is scheduled to start in March 2013, with an estimated duration of at least 34 days (in the event of a dry well).

Borgland Dolphin is a semi-submersible mobile drilling facility, type Aker H-3. It was built at Harland & Wolff in Belfast, Northern Ireland in 1977 and underwent extensive upgrades in 1999.

The facility is owned by Borgland Dolphin Pte Ltd and operated by Dolphin Drilling A/S. It received an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) in September 2004
