China’s Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Offshore Co., Ltd has awarded the Netherlands-headquartered AEG Power Solutions (AEG PS), a contract to secure its BT-4000 semi-submersible platform power supply with a customized solution based on AEG PS Protect 8 industrial UPS.

According to AEG PS’ press release from Thursday, the newbuild BT-4000 drilling rig is intended to serve in Santos basin, offshore Brazil.

AEG PS said that its customized solution would be delivered in January 2016.

Ever Guo , China Managing Director at AEG Power Solutions said: “The design of the solutions was a key factor in the decision of Dalian Shipbuilding to grant us this project. Our experience in engineering power supply for offshore platform was our strength, as well as the high reliability and the ruggedness of our products.”

The BT4000-type platform is a new deepwater semi-submersible rig designed by Bassoe Technology, a specialist in engineering advanced floating offshore units, for light workover/well intervention operations in water depths up to 2,400 m (7,879 ft) and in environment areas offshore Brazil, in the Gulf of Mexico, West of Africa and South East Asia.
