Malaysia Marine and Heavy Engineering Sdn Bhd (MMHE) has secured a FSO conversion contract with a compatriot vessel owner.

Under the contract signed with E.A. Technique (M) Berhard, MMHE will execute demolition, refurbishment and installation works.

The vessel, to be named FSO Nautica Bergading following the conversion, is expected to arrive at the yard in July 2015.

The retrofitting is expected to be completed by the end of June 2016, when the floating, storage and offloading facility is slated for official sail-away.

Once delivered, the FSO will deploy for a full field development project for the North Malay Basin.

The shipbuilder has also won a repair contract for two LNG carriers for MISC. The contract stipulates life-extension and drydocking of 73,519 DWT Puteri Intan and Puteri Delima. The vessels are expected to arrive at the yard this June and their dry-docking should be completed in three months.

The two deals were announced together with two more contracts that include offshore structural component fabrication works; hook up and commissioning and related topside construction work for facilities improvement project. The total value of all four projects is RM 324 million (around USD 86 million).

MBH Managing Director Tuan Haji Abu Fitri Abdul Jalil said that the company has so far secured around RM 400 million (around USD 106 million) worth of projects and voiced his optimism in continuation of the order buildup at the yard.
