ZTT Delivers Cables for Bangladesh Subsea Link

Business & Finance

ZTT has successfully completed supply and installation of the first 33kV long distance submarine power cable in Bangladesh, connecting Chittagong and Sandwip Island.

The end user is Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB).

The contract was signed with BPDB in September 2017. ZTT finished production of 30-kilometer cables in 2 continuous length without any joint.

The cable size is 3 x 500 sq.mm with 24 cores of fiber optic. According to the company, it was a challenging job due to lack of local resources, deep burial depth up to 6 meters and long landing distance.

“We are happy to work with SBSS as our installation partner, to overcome all the obstacles and achieve successful installation in early February 2018. We are proud to provide a reliable power supply to the people in Sandwip Island, Bangladesh and contribute to China’s “The Belt and Road” initiative,” ZTT said in a press release.
