WNME appoints new general director

Géraldine Martin has been named as the new General Director of West Normandy Marine Energy (WNME).

Géraldine Martin previously occupied the position of Deputy Director.

The primary objective entrusted to Martin by the Board of Directors will be to further develop marine renewables energy (MRE) sector in Normandy region by improving industrial activity, research and innovation, and subcontracting.

Géraldine Martin, a civil engineer for waters and forests, has been working in the marine sector since 2008. She became the Head of the Ocean and Coastal Service in 2012.

West Normandy Marine Energy was founded in 2012 with the purpose of encouraging and organizing the development of MRE in Lower Normandy.

The construction of the first pilot tidal projects in the Cotentin area, off Normandy, was announced by the French Prime Minister, Manuel Valls, early in December 2014.
