Wind Server Heading to Gwynt y Môr for Maintenance Work

Operations & Maintenance

Ziton’s jack up vessel Wind Server is due to be carrying out maintenance work close to two wind turbines within the Gwynt y Môr offshore wind farm area starting this week.

The vessel is expected to start working in the vicinity of the turbines C10D and K1M on Thursday, 26 January, a notice to mariners said.

The expected duration of works is eight to ten days.

When at the specified locations, the vessel will be restricted in the ability to manoeuvre and other vessels are asked to observe a 500m exclusion zone at all times, the notice issued by Gwynt y Môr Marine Coordinator said.

Gwynt y Môr is the world’s second largest operating offshore wind farm, located off the North Wales coast.

Fully commissioned in June 2015, the 576MW project comprises 160 Siemens 3.6MW turbines.

The wind farm is a GBP 2bn partnership between RWE Innogy, Stadtwerke München GmbH, and Siemens.

Wind Server started a three-year charter with Siemens in March 2016.
