Marine seismic services provider WGP Group, a subsidiary of Thalassa Holdings, has been awarded a contract from  ConocoPhillips in the North Sea.

The company will acquire seismic data sets on the Eldfisk field in the North Sea in 2017.

The duration of the 2017 shoot is estimated at approximately two months and is expected to start during the second quarter.

Eldfisk is an oilfield, that also contains some gas, discovered in 1970, approved for development in 1975, and started production in 1979.

It is the second largest of three producing fields in the Greater Ekofisk Area and one of the largest on the Norwegian continental shelf.

The field is located in block 2/7, about 16 kilometers south of Ekofisk, not far from the UK and Danish shelves. The water depth in the area is just under 70 meters.

In December 2015, the company was awarded a long-term seismic acquisition services contract with ConocoPhillips to acquire seismic data sets on the Ekofisk field.
