Business & Finance

Western Economic Diversification Canada (WD) will open a call for proposals for clean technology projects under the Western Diversification Program (WDP) late in January 2017.

For the upcoming call, WD is seeking applications that directly support its investment priorities which include clean technology, and indigenous economic growth.

Under the clean technology priority, WD will fund project activities which include studies and analyses that identify ways to grow clean technology opportunities for western Canadian organizations in the marketplace.

Also, WD will support technology development activities including prototype design and field testing and/or operational demonstration in collaboration with industry partners to develop and commercialize clean technology products or processes.

Clean technology is defined as any product, process, or service that reduces environmental impacts relative to the standard and/or most commonplace technology in a given market.

The call for proposals will open on January 25, 2017, and the applications will be accepted until February 23, 2017.

It is targeted at non-profit organizations that are eligible for funding under the WDP, including industry associations, economic development organizations, indigenous-led non-profits and organizations, as well as municipal governments and organizations created by them.
