Wave-tricity is looking to hire companies that would design and manufacture drive trains, and linear generators for its Ocean Wave Rower device.

Wave-tricity is looking to hire a company that would design and manufacture up to 24 wave energy drive trains from concept design work currently being undertaken, according to a speculative notice issued on the Welsh government’s procurement portal Sell2Wales.

The scope of work is estimated to be up to a maximum value of £600,000.

Also, Wave-tricity plans to award a contract for the design and manufacture of up to 24 linear generators to fit drive train built for wave energy device. The scope of work is estimated to worth £400,000 and will include the design and manufacturing of bespoke linear generators to develop an output of between 20kW and 50kW within a given wave climate.

The first batch for both contracts, including the delivery of up to a maximum of 6 drive trains, and 6 linear generators, must be ready for delivery by January 31, 2017, with approximate size, weight and footprint details available before the end of 2016.

To remind, Wave-tricity received £4 million for the deployment of its wave energy device off Pembrokeshire through the Welsh European Funding Office under the European Regional Development Fund.
