Vroon’s W2W Vessel Available from Mid-2015

Business & Finance

A vessel that combines “walk-to-work” services and supply duties for the offshore O&G and renewable energy markets will be available from mid-2015, Vroon Offshore Services (VOS) Den Helder announced today.

Vroon is aiming to meet the expected increase in demand for offshore people-transfer solutions. Over recent years, the company has delivered a number of “walk-to-work” solutions, gaining substantial experience which has proved invaluable in the development of this revolutionary, new vessel.

Its ”multi-role’’ vessel offers accommodation and work space for up to 40 client staff (the so-called special personnel). The unique vessel concept is based on the principle of 720 sqm clear deck space. This deck space can be fitted with a walk-to-work system, at the same time leaving ample space available for a variety of extra services. In addition, the vessel can optionally be equipped with a motion-controlled crane and work boats supported by heave-compensated davits.

This new generation of “walk-to-work” and  supply vessel is based on a KCM design. The vessel is classed DP-2 and designed to carry a total of 60 persons. She complies to the latest SPS Code 60 regulations. In close cooperation with the design company, KCM, and the Force Technology Design Institute, Vroon’s Engineering Department has optimised the vessel for efficient fuel consumption (both on DP and sailing) and on-board comfort for clients’ personnel.

Two of these vessels can be made available for walk-to-work operations in the North Sea from mid-2015.

Vroon Offshore Services is at stand 11.085 at today’s Offshore Energy 2014 Exhibition in the Amsterdam RAI conference centre.
