Vissim will deliver the licensing, radar, AIS, radio communication systems, as well as integrated marine management software.

“Vissim has experience of delivering systems across the world, and we are excited to build on that to create unique expertise in this dynamic and key market,” said Nicholas Dent, Managing Director of Vissim’s Global Wind business.

“Particularly rewarding is engaging with the local supply chain and working alongside them to prepare for this and future projects.”

In February, a consortium led by Marubeni announced the start of construction at what is the first large-scale offshore wind project in Japan established on a commercial basis.

The 140 MW project will feature 33 MHI Vesta V117-4.2 MW turbines located in the northern Akita prefecture. Commissioning is scheduled for 2022.
