‘Viking Energy’ stays with Statoil for another two years

Business & Finance

Norway’s Statoil has once again extended the contract for the LNG-powered Platform Supply Vessel (PSV) Viking Energy. The extension is for two years, starting April 2016.

According to the previous agreement, signed in February 2015, the contract had been extended from April 2015 to a further year, with 1+2 years option. Under the new agreement announced on Friday, the contract has a further one year option.

Eidesvik, the vessel owner, also entered into an agreement with Statoil for installation of Energy Storage System (Battery solution) onboard the vessel.

Eidesvik CEO, Jan Fredrik Meling, said: “The Viking Energy was the first LNG fuelled PSV in the world when it was delivered in 2003, and has been on contract for Statoil since delivery. We are very satisfied that Statoil once again has extended a contract with Eidesvik.”
