Intellian Technologies, a provider of maritime satellite communications systems, has received an order for satellite antenna systems from the Vietnamese owner and operator of vessels serving the oil and gas industry, PTSC Marine.

Intellian said on Tuesday that the contract entails the installation of ten v100 antenna systems on a series of anchor handling tug supply (AHTS) vessels controlled by PTSC Marine, a subsidiary of PetroVietnam Technical Services Corp.

The contract will be done in cooperation with VNPT, a telecommunications company owned by the Vietnamese Government, and the national post office of Vietnam.

Woosung Chang, VP of APAC Sales at Intellian, said: “PTSC Marine were quite clear that their preferred solution needed to contribute to operational efficiency and crew welfare on board, but it also had to add to the vessel’s charter attractions.”

The v100 satellite communications system is a 1m Ku-band stabilized antenna used the maritime and offshore industry, which is easily convertible to Ka-band in under 10 minutes. According to the company, its carbon fiber reflector ensures performance in either configuration, achieving high throughput.

Le Tri Thanh, Director at PTSC Marine, said: “We were pleased to select Intellian for this project. As a company and partner, they are committed to facilitating and supporting our expansion within the region.”

The v100 also benefits from automated diagnostics including the internal Spectrum Analyzer, while a built-in web interface allows shore-based staff to use Intellian’s Aptus software to manage, troubleshoot and update terminals in the field without setting foot on board a vessel.

Chang added: “We are also delighted to add a further reference in the offshore support segment, where the reliability and robustness of communications equipment in extreme conditions are imperatives.”
