Vattenfall taps Correll Group for multi-year offshore wind services

Business & Finance

Correll Group, a subsidiary of SPIE Global Services Energy, has been awarded two multi-year framework agreements from Vattenfall to carry out cable testing and fault finding for Vattenfall’s offshore wind farms in Europe.

The two framework agreements cover Vattenfall’s existing and potential new offshore wind farms in Europe (excluding Germany) for an initial five-year period. They relate to the high-voltage submarine cable system, e.g. pinpointing positions of electrical cable faults in a cable using suitable cable testing, cable condition monitoring, and/or specific cable testing before re-energization.

Of the two agreements, one will cover offshore wind farms located in the UK, while the other will cover those in the rest of Europe (excluding Germany and the UK).

“The award of these frame agreements highlights our strategic shift towards business diversification to the maintenance activities. This move underscores our commitment to optimizing operational efficiency and creating long-term value for our customers and stakeholders”, said Gianluca Pettracia, Wind Power Business Director at SPIE Global Services Energy.

According to Vattenfall’s website, the company operates more than 1,300 wind turbines with a total installed capacity of approximately 6.1 GW across five countries in Europe.

At the beginning of this year, SPIE Global Services Energy acquired Correll Group, integrating it into their operations and expanding their reach within the energy sector.

In other recent news from the Correll Group, the company was awarded framework agreements in June by Ørsted for fault-finding, diagnostics, and dry repair of cables at Ørsted’s offshore wind farms in the UK, the U.S., and Taiwan.
