Vallourec Pipes for Egina FPSO

Business & Finance

Vallourec said it is supplying Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) with tubes for the construction of the Egina oil field FPSO offshore Nigeria.

Egina is an ultra deep offshore project, 130 km off the coast of Nigeria, at a depth of 1750 m. The field infrastructure consists of a subsea production system tied in to a floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel with a processing capacity of 200,000 barrels a day and a storage capacity of 2.3 million barrels.

Vallourec is supplying over 1,700 tons of pipe. The project management team of the Pipe Project Division is coordinating quality planning, production and delivery for over 250 different items from the factories in France, Germany and Brazil.

The FPSO will be 330 meters long, 61 meters wide and 34 meters high. The topside alone, where the pipes will be installed, will weigh 47,500 tons.

In association with a local Nigerian company (Bell Oil & Gas), Vallourec has already delivered for Egina Project the full package of 24,000 tons subsea line pipe: 16,000 tons of flowlines used for production, water injection and gas export lines, and 8,000 tons for a riser pipe-in-pipe construction.

“We are excited to bring our contribution to this new stage of Egina, and to the FPSO. It proves the extent of our global solutions and completes our offer of premium products, advanced testing, project management and local content in Nigeria. It demonstrates Vallourec Pipe Projects as a true offshore and onshore provider, bringing value and cost-effectiveness to complex projects.” Frédéric Castrec, managing director Pipe Project Division.
