V.Ships Offshore, part of V.Group, has been awarded a contract to provide operations and full technical management of the floating storage and offloading (FSO) vessel Pertamina Abherka in Indonesia.

V.Ships, a marine and offshore vessel management and support services provider, said on Wednesday that the Pertamina Abherka FSO was the second vessel owned by Pertamina International Shipping to be managed by the company.

Sanford D’Souza, general manager of V.Ships Offshore Asia, said: “Our teams from V.Ships Offshore and Pertamina International Shipping have worked hard to ensure a safe and smooth transition as the vessel came into management. We look forward to continuing our relationship with the team in support of the Indonesian marine and offshore sector.”

The FSO, operating at the Poleng Marine Terminal, also acts as an accommodation facility with a potential capacity of 250 people including 21 crew members.

According to the company, the vessel will be managed by the V.Ships Offshore office in Singapore with a local support team based in Indonesia.

The Poleng field is located offshore west of Madura island, East Java, Indonesia. It is developed using a processing platform, which is connected to the AW Platform, and the central processing platform.

Gas from the field is exported via subsea pipeline to an onshore receiving facility at Gresik, while the oil is exported from the processing and AW platforms through the Petramina Abherka FSO.
