USA: Pickens to Speak at World LNG Fuels 2014

USA Pickens to Speak at World LNG Fuels 2014

Investor and NGV champion T. Boone Pickens has agreed to deliver the keynote address to World LNG Fuels 2014, Jan. 22, in Houston.

The conference, which is the largest and oldest on liquefied natural gas (LNG) as fuel, covers the growing trend by heavy-duty fleets to fuel with natural gas. LNG tends to be preferred fleets of highway trucks, locomotives, ships and stationary power units due its higher storage density than compressed natural gas.

“No one has had a greater impact on the use of American natural gas for transportation than T. Boone Pickens,” said Bob Nimocks, head of the conference program committee and president of Zeus Development Corporation, an energy analyst and information provider. “Since the early 1990s, he has had a vision of how to make America energy independent with natural gas. We’re delighted delegates will be able to learn from his insights and perspectives.”

Heralded as one of America’s most successful businessmen, T. Boone Pickens first built one of the country’s largest independent oil companies, Mesa Petroleum. Then, he founded one of its most successful investment funds, BP Capital. In 2008, he authored the Pickens Plan, which has spurred a grass-roots campaign to reduce U.S. dependence on imported oil.

A staunch advocate for American energy independence, Mr. Pickens aggressively pursues a wide range of business interests in alternative energy, including the NASDAQ-traded, Clean Energy Fuels, which founded and took public in May 2007.

World LNG Fuels 2014 will be held at the George R Brown Convention Center in Houston, Jan. 21-23. The industry event will feature exhibitions of LNG fuel equipment and vehicles, tours of facilities and more than 50 presentations by executives leading the market.
