USA: Maryland Senate President Wants Offshore Wind Debate

Authorities & Government

The Maryland Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller strongly supports the offshore wind energy bill.

He said that he is willing to make changes to the Senate Finance Committee to pass the offshore wind bill for a debate at Senate, writes the Associated Press.

“I might have to do that in terms of getting out a wind power bill to the floor, because it’s been two years now and two years of testimony and two years of hearings, and environmentalists feel that this is an issue that needs to be debated on the floor, as contrasted to the death penalty, where just three years ago we got it to the floor and had extensive debates and it was modified,” said Miller.

Namely, Gov. Martin O’Malley will again try to introduce a bill on ensuring funding for an offshore wind farm which failed twice to make it out of the General Assembly.
