Technical Advisory Group (TAG) of the United States to the International Electrotechnical Commission’s (IEC) TC-114 is looking to appoint subject matter experts for the new wave and tidal validation project.

IEC TC-114, a technical committee that develops and manages standards for the global marine hydrokinetics (MHK) industry, has released a new work item proposal for on the measurement of mechanical loads on marine and hydrokinetic (MHK) devices.

The project, led by Anton Schapp from the Netherlands, is part of the IEC 62600 series aiming to describe the measurement of fundamental structural loads on wave, tidal and other water current converters, including river current converters, for the purpose of the load simulation model validation.

In this regard, US TAG looking to nominate two subject matter experts to serve on the project team and contribute to the publication of this new technical specification.

Some of the responsibilities for the position include providing input based on detailed subject knowledge, assistance in chapter development and general document management and editing.

The deadline to apply for the position is set for June 12, 2017.

IEC TC-114 is the committee that, since 2008, has been developing international technical specifications and standards for marine energy conversion systems.

The primary focus is on conversion of wave, tidal and other water current energy into electrical energy, although other conversion methods, systems and products are included.
