US National labs back wave energy developers

 
Sandia National Laboratories and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) are developing a WEC design response toolbox (WDRT) for design analysis of ocean structures such as wave energy converters (WECs).

The WDRT is expected to help researchers and developers in straightforward application of statistical and engineering methods needed for design response analysis of a WEC.

The modules featured in WDRT include:

• Characterization of environmental extremes
• Extreme response statistics
• Fatigue analysis
• Design wave composition

The WDRT will be released on June 30, 2016, Sandia National Laboratories informed.
