UK Royal Haskoning DHV Eyes Solent Ocean Energy Centre

A special meeting of the Isle of Wight Council’s Cabinet will take place on Thursday, 25TH of July with the aim of developing plans for the groundbreaking Solent Ocean Energy Centre project.

In order to avoid a delay in the development of this tidal energy project, the Council will consider approving two phases.

According to a report, released by the Council, Royal HaskoningDHV has expressed interest in this project, which could create around 600 jobs over a period of 20 years. The services to be provided by Royal HaskoningDHV relate to conducting of site surveys and front end engineering design.

The estimated time for the completion of this GBP 1,627,601 project is January 2017, after which the Isle of Wight could see another tidal energy development south of the demonstration site with a total capacity of up to 300MW.
