UK Government’s Inaction on Offshore Wind Jeopardizes North East Jobs

Lord Andrew Adonis, a British Labour Party politician, has urged the UK Government to take action on offshore wind and to unlock the many possibilities for employment in the North East.

He stated that the Dogger Bank offshore wind farm could have been an opportunity for supply and maintenance jobs in the past three years, since it was announced by the Crown Estate in 2010, The Journal writes.

A report has been sent to the Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg, which is asking from  the Government to prioritize Dogger Bank and the Humber mouth to the south as the first locations for new investment in the next generation.

“We still don’t have key Government decisions on future electricity requirements which could rapidly unlock billions of investment in Dogger Bank and other renewable energy locations,” The Journal quotes Lord Adonis as saying.
