Two Polish Offshore Wind Projects Secure Environmental Nod

Authorities & Government

Poland’s PGE Group has received environmental permits for the construction of the Baltica 2 and Baltica 3 offshore wind farms in the Polish Baltic Sea.

The Regional Directorate for Environmental Protection issued a decision on environmental conditions for the two projects on 24 January, which now allows PGE Group to start working on the technical design of both wind farms.

The Baltica 2 wind farm will have the capacity of up to 1,498MW and Baltica 3 will have the capacity of up to 1,045MW.

The first power from the wind farms is expected to flow in 2026, PGE said.

Leading offshore wind developer Ørsted is currently in discussions with PGE to acquire a 50% stake in the two projects.
