TRG Wind Sells Recruitment Business, Opens Offshore Wind Base in Hull

Business & Finance

UK-based wind turbine support company TRG Wind has sold its recruitment business to a member of its senior management team and has secured premises at Tower House Lane Business Park in Hull for its new operations centre which is expected to help the company expand its activities in the offshore sector.

Nico Young, formerly operations co-ordinator at TRG Wind, becomes managing director and 100 per cent shareholder of the newly created recruitment company RS Wind. David Elcombe, managing director of TRG Wind, said both businesses will operate separately and independently.

TRG Wind provides wind turbine technicians and supervisory services to wind turbine manufacturers and operators.

“The recruitment side of the business is important and we have a responsibility to our clients so it makes sense to separate it from the rest of the business given that TRG Wind’s focus is on other areas such as maintenance, quality supervision and installation,” Elcombe said.

He added that TRG Wind, which achieved GBP 1.5 million turnover in its first year, is gearing up for further expansion. The company expects to achieve growth of 150 per cent during 2016 and is opening the new operations centre in Hull which will be headed by field operations director James Overton.

“The business overall is progressing really well across Europe and further afield and we are looking at further expansion during 2017,” Elcombe said.

“At the moment almost all our work is onshore and overseas. There is the potential to increase that and to expand our activities in the offshore sector. The new operations centre gives us plenty of space for our tools, protective equipment, clothing and vehicles. Our office in Bromley will continue to be the main finance and admin centre.”
