Transocean clinches two-year deal offshore Canada

Transocean, an offshore drilling contractor, announced on Monday that one of its rigs has been awarded a two-year contract offshore Canada. 

Transocean’s harsh environment semi-submersible drilling rig Henry Goodrich was awarded a contract with Husky Oil Operations Limited at a dayrate of $275,000.

The rig, of a Sonat/Mitsui 5000 SES design, was built in 1985.

According to the drilling contractor, the estimated contract backlog excluding mobilization is $200 million. The Henry Goodrich is expected to start operations in the second quarter of 2016.

As of December 6, 2015, the company’s contract backlog is approximately $16.8 billion.
