Total awards more work to West Phoenix semi-sub

west-phoenixNorth Atlantic Drilling Ltd (NADL) has been awarded a contract from Total E&P UK for the semi-submersible drilling rig West Phoenix. 

NADL reported on Wednesday that the contract is for 90 days and the rig will operate in the United Kingdom, West of Shetland.

The total backlog for the contract is estimated at $17 million. The West Phoenix has worked for Total E&P UK since 2009.

The West Phoenix’s previous extension with Total was agreed in July 2015. The contract started in March and lasted until August 2016.

Built in 2008, West Phoenix is a 6th generation drilling unit. It has been operating on the Norwegian Continental Shelf and In UK in water depths from 154 m. to 1145 m, performing exploration drilling, development drilling, HPHT operations, well testing, and plug & abandon operations.
