TMC to deliver tech for Teekay's LNG-fueled shuttle tankers

Norwegian company TMC Compressors (TMC) has won a contract from Samsung Heavy Industries to provide marine compressed air systems to four LNG-fueled shuttle tankers being built for Teekay Offshore.

TMC will deliver a complete compressed air system to each of the four shuttle tankers, including compressors for service and control air as well as adsorption air dryers, the company said in a statement.

Samsung Heavy Industries is building four Suezmax-size, DP2 shuttle tankers for Teekay Offshore. The newbuild tankers are constructed based on Teekay Offshore’s new Shuttle Spirit design which incorporates LNG propulsion technology.

The vessels will be delivered in 2019 and 2020 and provide shuttle tanker services in the North Sea., while TMC will make its first delivery in the third quarter of 2018.

The Norwegian company declined to disclose the contract value.
