Tidal Lagoon Swansea Bay (TLSB), along with Welsh Government, Business Wales and Construction Futures Wales, are holding a series of supply chain awareness sessions across the Swansea Bay City Region.

According to TLSB, the awareness sessions present a chance for the companies to gain more information about the sub-contracting opportunities and learn how they can position themselves to maximise the opportunities that this £1 bln project will provide.

Following the initial presentations regarding the project, the session will split in to two groups focused on the following:

  • Construction – ancillary civils and site logistics and support services, sea wall and marine works, turbine house and sluice structure, and onshore and offshore buildings,
  • Manufacturing, and Operation and Maintenance Services – turbines, generators, sluice gates and stoplogs, M&E balance of plant, cranes and lifting equipment, operations and maintenance.

The sessions will take place as follows:

  • Tuesday, July 21, 8.30 am at Liberty Stadium, Swansea,
  • Wednesday, July 22, 7.30 am at Parc Y Scarlets, Llanelli,
  • Friday, July 24, 7.30 am at The Bridge Innovation Centre, Pembroke Dock.

Ioan Jenkins, Development Director for Tidal Lagoon Swansea Bay, said: “It’s through initiatives like this that we will be able to maximise local content in the project. Working with Welsh Government, we will hold awareness events throughout the Swansea Bay region this summer.”

“We have over 1000 local businesses registered on our system as being interested in securing work on the project. These events will give those companies an opportunity to better understand the procurement process and the opportunities available.”

All events are free to attend with the required registration.
