Shelf Drilling revealed on Wednesday that it has secured the three-year contract extension for the High Island V jack-up rig.

According to the rig owner, the extension is in direct continuation of the rig’s current contract in the Arabian Gulf.

The previous contract was awarded in March 2019 but the name of the customer was not revealed. However, Shelf Drilling’s fleet status report shows the rig is under contract with Saudi Aramco in Saudi Arabia since April 2019, which ended in March this year.

Following this extension, the expected availability of the rig is May 2025.

The High Island V rig is a 270-foot jack-up of a Marathon LeTourneau 82-SD-C design built in 1981. It had its last upgrade in 2013.
