As informed, the delivery ceremony took place on June 13, 2024. The vessel is the third in a series of 5,350 dwt plug-in hybrid units ordered at Chowgule and Company. The new 1A Ice class vessels feature a length of 90 meters, a breadth of 16 meters, and a draft of 6 meters.

Ecomar will soon commence its maiden voyage from India to Europe. The ship was launched in January this year.

The third ship in this series is specifically designed to transport a variety of bulk and breakbulk products, including steel, forest products, fertilizers, and project cargoes.

The unit features a spacious and unobstructed deck, enabling it to accommodate more deck cargo and longer project cargoes compared to the existing vessels in the fleet.

The new hybrid vessels reduce CO2 emissions by up to 50% compared to the present generation of vessels. Shore power connectivity and a large battery installation are expected to provide fuel efficiency and the possibility to minimize noise and emissions while in port, according to the shipowner.

The first plug-in hybrid ship Electramar was delivered in December 2023 and the second, Stellamar, in April 2024.
