TenneT Issues Offshore Substation Certification Call

Business & Finance

Dutch transmission system operator TenneT TSO has invited certifying authorities to submit their bids for the certification of the execution phase of the Alpha and the Beta offshore substation projects in the Hollandse Kust (zuid) zone.

TenneT intends to build two offshore platforms which will connect wind farms in the Hollandse Kust (zuid) zone.

In order to reduce costs, each platform will be based on the same design. The two platforms will be located approximately 25 kilometres west off the Dutch coast. The offshore substations are to carry high-voltage switching and transformation equipment as well as auxiliary facilities. Intake power from the wind farms will be 66kV, and export power will be 220kV, TenneT said.

Each substation will consist of a topside and a jacket foundation with a combined weight of around 6,500 metric tonnes.

The unmanned substations will be operated from an onshore control center.

The tender, which will remain open until 19 March 2018, also covers the certification of the pre-contract award phase on the Hollandse Kust (noord) project.

The contract is expected to start on 04 May 2018 and run until 31 March 2022.
